Our primary purpose is to reflect the views of senior housing proffesionals working in local government in discussions with the Scottish Government, the Scottish Housing Regulator and others.
All 32 Scottish councils are members. We meet monthly to discuss current issues and develop and agree our response to operational issues, policy proposals and formal consultations issued by the Scottish Government and others.
We invite a wide range of guests to our meetings to hear the views of policy developers, experts and academcis to ensure that we have a full understanding of issues that affect local authority housing.
We also run "master classes" to explore best practice and publish a small number of Practice Notes prepared in consultation with partners. These are usually about new or emerging issues and are intended to help our members develop and improve thier response and wider service deliver.
The work conducted by ALACHO is wide and varied and falls into the following catergories.
Informing policy, legislation and guidance
Tackling specific issues
